Tab Benoit's New Orleans Takeover; Three Big Shows Coming Up

Grammy‑nominated Bayou blues powerhouse Tab Benoit returns to his hometown for a hard‑hitting New Orleans takeover that finds him headlining three marquee stages in one week. Fresh off a fiery closing‑night set at the Tampa Bay Blues Festival and riding high on the success of his Billboard No. 1 album I Hear Thunder (Whiskey Bayou Records), Benoit will ignite:

    Saturday, April 26 – The Civic Theatre, 510 O’Keefe Ave., 9 p.m.
With special guest Samantha Fish. Tickets from $45; details at civicnola.com or (504) 272‑0865.

Sunday, April 27 – New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Fair Grounds Race Course, 1:45 p.m.
Set times and passes at nojazzfest.com/tickets.

    Friday, May 2 – House of Blues, 225 Decatur St., 8 p.m.
Featuring the legendary Dirty Dozen Brass Band. Tickets from $42.95; information at houseofblues.com/neworleans or (504) 310‑4999.

Released last August, I Hear Thunder is Benoit’s first studio recording in thirteen years and a thunderous reminder of his signature Telecaster growl, bayou grooves, and soulful songwriting partnership with Anders Osborne and George Porter Jr. Backed by longtime bandmates Corey Duplechin (bass) and Terence Higgins (drums), the record shot straight to the top of the Billboard Blues Album chart and has fueled a year‑long North American run that continues throughout 2025.

Since breaking out with 1992’s Nice and Warm, Benoit has earned multiple Blues Music Awards, four Grammy nominations, and a devoted international following. Equally respected for his environmental advocacy, the Houma native founded the Voice of the Wetlands foundation and remains a leading spokesman against Louisiana coastal erosion—proving that his passion for preserving the Delta is as deep as his dedication to the blues.

Following the New Orleans dates, the “I Hear Thunder” Tour storms on with theater and festival stops from New England to the Pacific Northwest, including headline appearances at Colorado’s Chautauqua Auditorium (July 12) and Nevada’s Big Blues Bender (September 4–7).
