Stuart Bogie (Clarinet) & Buck McDaniel (Organ) Release Monday 11/11/24

Stuart Bogie (clarinet) and Buck McDaniel (organ) announce the release of Monday 11/11/24, part one of the five-part series November Variations (2024) captured live by producer Fritz Myers at Church of our Saviour in Manhattan, New York from November 11 through 15, 2024.

The week of free, fully improvised concerts were presented daily at 9am showcasing Bogie and McDaniel in deep listening and communication.

Monday 11/11/24 begins with a simple motif from McDaniel that blooms into a dynamic, 30 minute piece of music setting the tone for the ambitious cycle of five improvised concerts.

The project grew from an introduction made by producer Fritz Myers in a meeting several months before the concert series at Church of our Saviour. Bogie and McDaniel improvised for about five minutes and immediately knew they shared a special connection in their sensibilities.

McDaniel recalls saying, “my chords are your chords” acknowledging the immediately recognizable musical shorthand shared by the two musicians. The high-resolution recordings highlight the conversation and exploration of this approach grounded in patience and love, spiked with an honest dose of restlessness.

Captured, mixed, and mastered without added reverb, the audio preserves each moment in stunning detail, from the shuffle of the audience to breaths drawn by Bogie to the deep resonance of McDaniel’s organ that fills the nave of the church.

Bogie reflects, “Every time I listen to this recording, I am filled with gratitude and a feeling of purpose. We made this music in the context of a psychic onslaught, and we made it right in the belly of Manhattan – blocks from Grand Central Station – sharing sonic love amidst the chaos of our city.”

Parts 2 – 5 of November Variations (2024) will be released at regular intervals culminating with Friday 11/15/24 in November 2025, marking one year since the concerts were performed.
