Following an extraordinary 2025 that saw Mountain Grass Unit emerge as one of the most talked-about new bands in modern bluegrass, the Birmingham, Alabama-born quartet is hitting the road again for the 2026 “Dog’s Out The Cage Tour.”
The newly announced dates mark the band’s first major swings of the new year, kicking off January 15 in Lexington, KY, and continuing through April with stops across the Midwest, Plains, and Southeast. The tour includes several special co-bills alongside The Infamous Stringdusters and Kitchen Dwellers, as well as returns to major cities that sold out in 2025.
The announcement follows an epochal year for Mountain Grass Unit, defined by rapid ascension and a wave of national recognition. The band’s 2025 “Runnin’ From Trouble Tour” spanned more than 55 shows across the U.S., including 22 sold-out dates and performances at world-renowned festivals such as Telluride Bluegrass, DelFest, Northlands, and WinterWonderGrass. Along the way, the group earned the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Momentum Artist of the Year award, cementing their reputation as one of the most compelling new forces in jamgrass.
Thus far in 2025, Mountain Grass Unit has drawn significant praise from major publications including Rolling Stone, which described their Telluride appearance as “the surprise show of the weekend… high-octane pickin’ to the delight of the faces jammed into the small park.” Saving Country Music called them “the next big band in bluegrass.”

Ticket sales for the newly announced dates commence with an artist presale running Wednesday, October 15 at 10 am (venue local time) through Thursday, October 16 at 10 pm (venue local time). Following a promoter/venue presale on Thursday, October 16 (10 am–10 pm), a general on-sale begins Friday, October 17 at 10 am (venue local time).
