National entertainment leader Knitting Factory Entertainment (KFE) and Milwaukee-based The Argo have struck a deal that will make Knitting Factory Presents the exclusive talent-buying arm for a new live‐music venue set inside the lavishly restored Fox Bay Theater in Whitefish Bay, just north of downtown Milwaukee.
Under the agreement, KFE will steer all concert programming for The Argo, tapping its deep network of artist relationships to craft lineups that are both creatively adventurous and commercially successful. “This collaboration marks a new chapter in our commitment to delivering exceptional live-music experiences,” said Morgan Margolis, CEO of Knitting Factory Entertainment. “We’re honored to partner with the music-minded team behind The Argo.”
Booking duties will be overseen by James Irvine, SVP of Knitting Factory Presents, from KFE’s Colorado offices. “The Argo hits our sweet spot for capacity and energy,” Irvine noted. “It’s an ideal space for unforgettable shows, brought to life by Andrew J. Coate, Adam Powers, and Josh Bryant—three people whose passion for music and community makes this project special.” Concert announcements will begin this fall as the 1949 late-Art-Deco theater re-opens following a multi-million-dollar transformation.
Adam Powers, CEO of The Argo, added, “Our vision is to create a place built for music, built for community, and built to last. Partnering with Knitting Factory ensures we deliver world-class performances from day one.”
When it opens, The Argo will feature:
A 750-capacity entertainment hall designed for concerts and special events
A full-service bar and kitchen curated by five-time James Beard semifinalist Chef Dan Jacobs (EsterEv, DanDan)
Flexible indoor-outdoor spaces for weddings, festivals, corporate gatherings, and private celebrations
Underscoring its commitment to artist welfare, The Argo will donate $1 from every ticket to programs supporting mental-health resources, sustainability initiatives, and career longevity in the music industry.
While renovations continue, The Argo is producing a free summer-and-fall concert series at nearby Ivanhoe Plaza, featuring favorite Milwaukee acts such as Alyssia Dominguez, Wire & Nail, Justin Witte, Chris Haise Band, Violet Wilder, Haley Klinkhammer, Ben Mulwana, Gold Steps, and Orlando Peña—with appearances by co-founders Josh Bryant and Adam Powers.
The Argo’s growing partner roster includes ticketing platform Eventbrite, developer New Land Enterprises, and design–build specialists Three Sixty Design, whose portfolio spans Café Centraal to the Milwaukee Athletic Club Roof and Elephant Room.
“As we shaped this concept, it became clear that Knitting Factory Presents shared our values and vision for what The Argo can become,” said Andrew J. Coate, Co-Founder of The Argo. “Their independent spirit and decades of experience make them the perfect booking partner.”
