In Motion marks the Jimkata‘s second successful go at an entirely crowd-sourced record and ushers in a new chapter as a trio. The record, which premiered via Billboard Magazine, is a triumph of swirling analog synths and breezy hooks in the vein of Yeasayer, St. Lucia, Peter Gabriel and Broken Bells.

Friends since middle school Evan Friedell (vocals/guitar), Aaron Gorsch (synths) and Packy Lunn (drums) infuse Jimkata — which, yes, is named after the so-bad-it’s-good 1985 gym-fu caper Gymkata–with both an adventurous musical streak and an emotional core. Jimkata is bringing its dynamic live show across the US for the next two months, including an opening slot for X Ambassadors in its hometown of Ithaca, NY. See below for a full run of dates.
