Denver-based musician and producer Nate Todd embarks on a dark and dangerous journey through the solar system with his new single “Martian Bourgeoisie.” The track sees Todd stepping boldly into the electronic space, a genre he explores thoroughly on his forthcoming third solo album, inspired by sci-fi films and novels.
“’Martian Bourgeoisie’ is the first single from a forthcoming sci-fi themed project,” Nate explained. “The album sees me moving into electronic sounds and ‘Martian Bourgeoisie’ is populated with a lattice of arpeggiators, a gritty hip-hop beat and driving bass both electric and synth. The song, which comments on greed and its enabler capitalism, comes to an explosive crescendo.”
As he mentioned, Todd sees greed at the root of the exhausting and never-ending problems society is facing. “People who have too much always want more,” he sings on “Martian Bourgeoisie.”
“Greed is a drug,” Todd added. “Some people become so warped and deformed by greed that they lose all empathy and compassion for their fellow humans. There has to be an intervention.”
